"Guilt Like Acid Rain"

Lord Jesus, be near my hurting friend.
Her eyes speak the pain that she bears.
She aches in her heart from a heartless mistake
she made when she was young.
It seemed so right then.
But then was when her only concern was a choice.
And left to her choice and society's voice,
what she thought was right proved all wrong.
And though that happened years ago,
before she called You Lord,
the guilt of her past (like acid rain)
still burns inside her soul.
I know You have cried for her sorrow.
Please release her from kidnapping fear.
Would you help her to know she one day will hold
the child she longs to be near?

"An Aborter's Reprieve"

Weighed down by shame,
I waited for Your sun to shine again.
I wondered if it ever would.
How could it after what I'd done?
A grievous crime. Murder!
Spirit numb.
Heart cold.
Black clouds hung low.
I could barely breathe.
I could barely lift my head.
But in my weakened gasping state,
I owned my sin instead.
And deep within my soul
You pushed the clouds away.
The sun for which I longed
dawned at last.
It thawed my frozen will
and stilled my anxious mind.
No longer blind,
now I can see.
I am clean.
I am forgiven.
I am free.
