A Hurting Word...
It's been said, "Eyes are the window of the soul." Now MY boys, with a sassy comment for everything, would say, "Well, then, MOM has windows of *her* soul everywhere--including the back of her head!" Don't they know ALL moms are like that? God's just programmed us that way!
I know Someone else whose eyes are everywhere. Remember the song, "O be careful, little eyes, what you see....there's a Father up above and He's looking down in love, Oh be careful, little eyes what you see." As a child I didn't really like that song--it *scared* me to think that a big, holy God was watching every little move I made.
Is He? YES--and it was wonderful, not scary, for ME this week! Want to hear what happened? During an early morning phone conversation, a cousin shared with me some "hard stuff" she was going through. Then she said, "The Lord is directing me to Scriptures about the "eyes of the Lord." She began to quote, "The eyes of the Lord are on them that fear him..."Well," I chuckled, "I could sure use that verse too," for I'd been going through some "hard stuff" as well!
The day and the "stuff" got worse, for the next thing I knew, I accidentally deleted important files on my computer. In panic, I called computer support, and they calmly said, "Bring it in." I was angry at myself, screaming all the way down the road, "You stupid person!" Little did I know what was about to happen!
For you see, right in the same building with computer support, was another office I needed to see concerning a pressing problem. While my computer was "in the hospital," I got helpful information from a born-again Christian employee, and traveled home with NO retrieved files, but a calm spirit. I knew God was working. I arrived home to find e-mail awaiting me from a dear friend. "Peggie, I feel the Lord impressing me to tell you to read Psalm 34."
I opened my Bible, began to read, and my eyes fell on verse 15, "The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry." I could not believe it. Tears filled my eyes--I KNEW my Heavenly Father was watching. He KNEW I needed a personal "love note," and THERE it was!
My husband arrived home from the office, and as he opened the mail, I recounted the faithfulness of God. As I'm talking (and I talk alot!), something falls out of an envelope. It is a tax refund check, a wonderful part of the answer to my pressing problem. God had shown up on my doorstep that day with two love notes--and by the end of this week, He has answered the desperate prayer, and brought wonderful relief.
Is God real? Are His promises true? Ask me--I have a thousand other stories where that one came from! Our God SEES us--come to the Well, and share with me from Scripture, the wonder of His All-seeing eye!
Ever-watching!...He watches the level of frustration as it roller-coasters in your life. He sees the oncoming stress and the downgoing pain. He monitors carefully so not one ounce of stress or pain is wasted. Fear not--you will survive--the eyes of the Lord are upon you. That's all you need to know!
"Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy (Psalms 33:18 KJV)."Ever-knowing!...He sees the faltering footsteps. He knows what we cannot know, for He sees what we cannot see. His divine eye sees far beyond the human circumstance, and into the realm of the spirit--He is working in your life something of eternal value. Fear not--you will survive--the eyes of the Lord are upon you. That's all you need to know!
"O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising; thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether (Psalm 139:1-4 KJV)."Ever-loving!...He sees the failing heart. He knows you've blown it, for He saw it coming. And yet He loves you. He wants to take those failures and turn them into victories. The sins you've committed today can be forgiven, forgotten, and become the freeing words of testimony to another--He wastes nothing, including failure. So fear not--you will survive--the eyes of the Lord are upon you. That's all you need to know!
"...I have loved thee with an everlasting love; therefore, with lovingkindness have I drawn thee (Jeremiah 31:3 KJV)."
Ever-planning!...He sees the future that frightens. He understands every apprehension you have, even the unspoken ones too deep for words. The future is not frightening to Him. It is full and bright--bright as the promises He has placed within your heart. So fear not--you will survive--the eyes of the Lord are upon you. That's all you need to know!
"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11 KJV)."Ever watching? Knowing? Loving? Planning? You better believe it--but there IS one thing He will never see--your SINS! They are "buried in the sea of God's forgetfulness, never to be remembered against you any more!" He doesn't even see them--neither should you!And that's just a word--from my heart to yours!
"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him...II Chronicales 16:9 KJV).""Lord, help me this week to know You are ever-watching, ever-knowing, ever-loving, and ever-planning in my behalf. You will light the way before me; You will see what I cannot see; know what I cannot know, and do what I cannot do. I will not fear for I know, THE EYES OF THE LORD are upon me this day--and every day. Amen."
