A Hurting Word...
Ever have a "heavenly visitor" knock on your door? One evening around Christmastime, a very strange visitor came to my door. It was quite late, and I was tired, but dragged myself to the doorway. I opened the door to find my young son, who had sneaked out of the house to fool Mom. He stood there, dressed in sparkling angel costume, complete with halo and twinkle in his eye. In his best "straight-man" voice, he gleefully proclaimed, "Behold I bring you tidings of great joy!" Only a mom could really enjoy the humor, I suppose, but it really was very funny!Well there's someone else who delights to knock at my door--and yours, and we're not going to answer THIS one, not until we first visit the Well and the Person waiting for us there! For He knows, without question, the visitor at the door. He's known him a long time, knows every trick in his book, and wants YOU to know who he is before you EVER attempt to answer it. Let's check out the costumes this dastardly door-knocker wears as he seeks entry into our lives!
A Helping Word...or Two!He's been the taunting enemy of your soul since ever you surrendered to Christ. He's not too happy with your decision, for he lost a prize possession, and so he knocks at the door of your past. Just open it a crack, and you'll hear his accusing voice, reminding you of past mistakes, past failures, and past-everything in your black book of sin. Listen not to his taunts! They are empty words, for Jesus has forgiven your past. You are His child, and Satan has no power over you. Remember that the next time he comes to the door--slip him THIS note, and don't let him in!
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 KJV)."He's a Transformer! He's been the transformer of good to evil, since the beginning of time, and he's not changed his tactics, for sure. He will take what God means for a positive in your life, and attempt to twist it into every negative you can imagine. You end up with no faith, no joy, no hope--because he's changed it into an opposite--and zap, you are faithless, joyless, and hopeless--in the pit where the devil and not YOU belong! That's not God's plan for your life or mine. God wills and plans only His best for us. Hold on to it, and refuse to give the enemy house-room, in your mind, your heart, or your spirit. Remember that the next time he comes to the door--slip him THIS note, and don't let him in!
"The thief cometh not but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10:10 KJV)."He's a Terrifier! He's been causing fear in the hearts of people from the beginning, and he's still playing the same game. Fear is a tool he will use to keep you from doing God's will, from going forward to face an enemy, and from living in the freedom of God's peace. Paralyzing fear will block the creative flow of the Spirit of God in your life. It will cause you to retreat rather than advance into the wonderful future God has planned for you. That's not God's will for His children. Remember that the next time the enemy comes to the door--slip him THIS note, and don't let him in!
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 KJV)."Now that you've slipped Satan these powerful notes from the Word of God, you're ready for the final assault of this enemy of your soul. Move back from the door--don't answer it. Send Jesus, the TERMINATOR, to the door! Jesus Christ has the keys to death and hell, and He'll take care of the enemy for you. Our Lord has already defeated Satan at Calvary, and some day, He will be banish him forever, along with all his lying demons, to the pit of hell. You serve a Christ able to defeat every tactic and scheme of the devil to annoy, harrass, and bring you down to despair and defeat. Rise up in the Name of Jesus, and know victory in Him today!
...And that's just a thought or two--from my heart to yours!
