"Jesus Is the Door"

I am mildly claustrophobic. I don't like small, closed-in spaces! This presented a problem while I served in the USAF. I drove refueling trucks in England and refueled F-111F fighter-bombers.

During "wargames," we'd train as if we were really in a war. I had to back my big refueler into a protective hardened concrete shelter barely big enough for the truck to fit into. There were huge steel doors nearly two stories tall and weighing tons on the front of these shelters. You'd back your truck in and the sergeants would, literally, lock you in! They'd close those steel doors and set them in place with huge metal pins as big as your arm. This, of course, terrified me!

The only way out of these shelters was a small escape door in the rear of the shelter. It was only 3 foot by 3 foot and was made of metal several inches thick. This door was the only way out of the suffocating darkness of that shelter! And I did not hesitate to make use of it. I went through that door into the fresh, clean air!

Jesus (John 10:7,9) describes himself as the "door." On this side of the door is sin -- suffocating us with darkness, misery and death. But Jesus assures us that if we will not hesitate to enter through Him, we will leave behind the suffocating darkness of sin, and enter into His salvation, and "find pasture." He is the door!
