The Colors of My Desert!


I was traveling in the desert
In the blazing summer sun.
So parched and barren was this place,
I wished the journey done.

I picked up speed
In hopes that I could leave it far behind,
When a flash of color caught my eye
And a thought entered my mind

Slow down, I said.
Enjoy the trip and savor what's around,
And the desert bloomed with beauty.
Everywhere its joy I found.

Because I didn't see it
When I sped along so fast,
Were there colors in the desert?
Did the rocks their shadows cast?

And, if I think beyond this place
To the One who made it all,
Are there colors in my desert?
Does He hear me when I call?

Because I do not see Him,
I may think He doesn't care.
But the colors in my desert
Reassure me
HE IS THERE!
