If you're an elementary kid bookworm, you KNOW the answer...if you're a parent or a bookseller, you know it too....Harry POTTER is the hot news in the book world these days! And WHO is Harry Potter? I've never met him, but understand he's a young fictitious boy with "wizard" powers who stars in a series of books designed for elementary adventurers and mystery-lovers. Long lines waited book number four's release...kids are crazy about Harry Potter!

Well, I'm not...and of course, each parent must evaluate, review and come to their own family's decision on whether to give "Harry Potter" house-room or not. For myself, there's enough real evil in our world, enough of a real devil in our world, that I don't want to go down ANY "dark" roads, fictitious, fanciful, free-spirited or not--nor do I wish it for my kids!

The book, while causing controversy, pros and cons, even in Christian circles, does point out the intense interest we as mankind - and "kidkind" - have in the supernatural. As for me, I prefer to forego the adventures of the "haunted" and follow the adventures of the "Holy"--the Holy Spirit, that is. For HE is the supernatural force in MY life--and YOURS--if you know the Lord. He's the one who, when heeded, will give supernatural guidance and supernatural power to live for the Lord in a world surrounded by evil.

Now I enjoy a good suspense story as much as you do--and there's some good ones listed below, but let's be careful what we DO read; that even our reading habits glorify the Lord and promote His light over the darkness in our world! AND by the way, I know a "Bestseller" in which you'll find His Light--it's God's Word, and it's the blessed Holy Spirit who makes that Word real and powerful to our hearts and lives. Now THAT's adventurous, blockbuster reading--go get your Bible, read an uplifting chapter--and have a GREAT day!
