Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way
The news story shocked us all...A woman in Seattle, Washington, obviously distraught, sat on the edge of a bridge. The busy weekday traffic slowed as people watched the unfolding drama...would she jump...would she not jump...What happened was a travesty. Obscenities spewed through the air from some of the drivers too immersed in their own frustrations to care. "Jump, ____, Jump!" they yelled.
And she did....down 160 feet into the water. Rescued, and in critical condition, the lady landed in the hospital...there to receive flowers and cards from well-wishers, notes of love and encouragement from people who DID care. There are STILL some good people left in this world, thank God!
We read such an account in horror and disbelief...and yet, we've all been there. Oh, not on a bridge itself, in spite of our spoken or unspoken threats of "Blast it all! I feel like jumping off a bridge today!" But we've been there...on the edge of despair, discouragement, despondency. We've heard the voices too...not of hecklers from the highway, but hecklers from hell, the very demons of darkness who would dare us to "jump off the bridge"--to fault the Lord, to forget the faith--and they'll fight us to our death--if we let them!
Well, STOP - don't listen! For sitting on the edge of your despair is ANOTHER One, calling to you. He's the Divine Intervener--the One who has words of comfort, peace and blessing for you. There's a breakthrough waiting for you--if you hold on. For when you come to the end of yourself, when you call out to Him, He is there to answer, to pick you up, to lift your load, and to gently carry you to safety in His everlasting arms.
He has ways and means far beyond our understanding--but He knows just what you need this day. Call--and HE will answer. It's not hopeless--there is HOPE in the Lord, the God of heaven who made heaven and earth--and who made YOU. Believe it, call on His Name today...and forget the bridge--a BREAKTHROUGH is on its way!

"I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord (Psalm 27:13)."
"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God (Psalm 43:5)."
Draw from the Well--a song and a prayer for renewing strength for this day
"Lord, I'm on the edge--deep inside, where noone sees but You. You know the discouragement, the despair, the darkness--and I need Your help. I need a breakthrough, Lord--this day. I look to You "from whence cometh my help" - You will not forsake me and I WILL put my trust in You, In Jesus' Name, Amen."
