Lemon Bars! (A Daily Bible Booster reprint & a recipe for your July 4 picnic dessert!)
Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way
Got your attention, didn't I--that's if you love lemon bars as I do. Now my son will pick up a RAW lemon and eat it without making any kind of strange face, while I watch him and make strange faces FOR him! Sour lemons sans sugar? Yuk! But that's how life is sometimes--it hands us a sour lemon, then stands back to see what we'll do with it. Now I know what *I* do with real lemons--I turn them into the most delicious lemon bars you've ever tasted...and that's just an earthy example of what our God does too!
For you see, He will take the real lemons of life--the sour situations we can't deal with--and, in all His creative wisdom and love, "work it for our good," turning sour to sweet, creating something of sweetness and beauty for you--and for the world around you. Hand over the lemon to Him! Give that hurt to God and let Him handle it--it's too big and too bitter for you anyway. Now watch what HE makes of it--and have a wonderful day!

Draw from the Well--a prayer for renewing strength for this day
"Lord, I've held on to the sour lemons of life long enough. I'm tired of trying in my own strength to deal with raw hurts that never heal--and I hand them all over to You. Take them and make something GOOD out of them, for my sake and for YOURS. Make me a better, sweeter person because I've given it all to you and help me pass it on to a hurting world, In Jesus Name, Amen."
