Daddy was a pastor...and I was "Daddy's little girl." Our family photo album proves it--little Peggie Ann, about five years old, standing proudly by her preacher dad, holding HIS Bible, almost as big as she! Perhaps that was a bit of a prophetic photo--as that little girl now opens the same Word of God her dad did and brings God's love to the world daily. What an awesome privilege!

Well, I've got a preacher "pal" I want you to meet. He doesn't own a computer, has no idea how to email or do Web searches or make Web pages--but he's one of the coolest clergy people I know! He's not "clergy" to me - he's my pal. I "inherited" him from my late dad, who considered Pastor Eddy Anderson of Springfield, Missouri, to be one of his dearest friends. In Dad's late years, they had warm Christian fellowship--they prayed and cried together--and Dad nicknamed him "pal." It stuck--and Pastor Anderson is now MY pal. When I have a blessing--or a burden--you can be sure I call my pal, and together, we go to the throne of grace. What an awesome privilege--what an awesome friend!

Now I must tell you that my pal is no spring chicken - he is 87 years old BUT far from retired! He's an on-the-go parson, young-at-heart, vibrant in spirit--visiting the "elderly" in the nursing home, blessing people, ministering to people, being a real pal to lonely folk--and a real pal to people like ME!

Any good pastor is a P.A.L., you know: Protector of my faith; Advisor of my heart; Lover of my soul--and in celebration of Pastor Appreciation Day on Sunday, October 8, I want to honor every P.A.L. on this planet. If you're a pastor, here's a hug and all the Christian love and respect in the world to you! And if YOU have a pastor P.A.L., why don't YOU do the same! Try it--you and HE will have a wonderful day!
